Jiali Xu Attended 2017 Electronic Contract Summit

 The 2017 Electronic Contract Summit & China's First Electronic Contract Research Report, with the theme “Lawtech for a New Contract-Based Ecosystem”, was held on September 19th at the Beijing Waldorf Astoria Hotel. Mr. Jiali Xu was invited and delivered opening remarks at the Summit. The general contents of Mr. Xu’s remarks included:
1. With the advent of the Internet age, the laws legislated in the agricultural and industrial stages have become outdated and invalidated, and, therefore, it is necessary to enact new laws for the Internet age and also to address new problems arising in the age.
2. Laws lag behind technological advancement. The emergence and advancement of technology including Internet technology, cloud computing, big data, blockchain and artificial intelligence deserve legal attention.
3. Electronic contract is the new product in the age of the Internet, and it differentiates from paper contract due to its features such as virtuality and replicability with easy modifications. Accordingly, electronic contract issues cause new legal challenges.
